A local day out: Camber Sands
The great sweep of dunes and sand east of Rye, and the only significant dune system in East Sussex. At low tide the beach goes out a very long way and the shallow water warms up, which makes it about the best family beach in the county. Go early in summer, because the car parks fill by mid-morning and there is no overflow.
