A local day out: Dovedale stepping stones
A line of flat stones across the River Dove at the mouth of the gorge, and the single most popular thing to do in the Peak District. Beyond them the path runs up the dale past Thorpe Cloud, Lover's Leap and the Dove Holes caves. Get there early in summer, because the car park fills and the stones develop a queue.
