Suffolk Sands Holiday Park, Suffolk – and what to do nearby

Suffolk Sands is one of the Suffolk parks in the Park Holidays UK collection, at Felixstowe.

Suffolk Sands sits at Felixstowe, towards the Landguard end of the town where the peninsula narrows towards the port.

It is a short walk to the beach and closer still to the strangest attraction on this coast: the ships.

A local day out: The container ships at Landguard

The Port of Felixstowe handles around forty per cent of Britain's container trade, and from the viewing area at Landguard Point the ships pass close enough that the scale stops being abstract. There is a cafe, a nature reserve on the shingle, and the fort next door. It costs nothing and it holds the attention of most children for far longer than you would predict.

Also within reach

  • Landguard Fort — Tunnels, gun emplacements and 350 years of coastal defence.
  • Woodbridge Tide Mill — A working tide mill that still grinds flour on the right tides.
  • Sutton Hoo — The burial mounds, the reconstructed helmet and the viewing tower.

Book a break at Suffolk Sands

Park Holidays run caravan and lodge breaks at Suffolk Sands through the season, and short midweek breaks are usually the cheapest way in. Availability and prices vary by date, so it is worth checking what is left before you plan around a particular week.
