Par Sands Holiday Park, Cornwall – and what to do nearby

Par Sands is one of the Cornwall parks in the Park Holidays UK collection, at Par, near St Austell.

Par Sands sits directly behind the beach at Par, on Cornwall's south coast just east of St Austell.

It is one of the very few parks where the sand is genuinely on the doorstep rather than a drive away, and it has a freshwater pool and dunes between it and the sea.

A local day out: The Eden Project

Two enormous biomes in a reclaimed china clay pit: a rainforest you can walk through, complete with heat and a canopy walkway, and a Mediterranean one. It is a short drive from Par and it is the single biggest attraction in Cornwall. Buy tickets in advance, go early, and do the rainforest before the day heats up.

Also within reach

  • Charlestown — A Georgian harbour with tall ships moored in it, used in Poldark.
  • The Lost Gardens of Heligan — Restored Victorian gardens with the Mud Maid and the jungle valley.
  • Fowey — An estuary town with a ferry across to Polruan.
