Newhaven Holiday Park, Derbyshire – and what to do nearby

Newhaven is one of the Derbyshire parks in the Park Holidays UK collection, at Newhaven, between Ashbourne and Buxton.

Newhaven sits on the A515 between Ashbourne and Buxton, in the White Peak, which puts you inside the Peak District National Park rather than on the edge of it.

This is limestone country: dales, dry-stone walls and some of the best traffic-free cycling in England.

A local day out: The Tissington Trail

Thirteen miles of former railway line converted to a walking and cycling route, running along the top of the limestone plateau with views across the dales. It is flat, it is car-free, and it links to the High Peak Trail to make a much longer loop. Bike hire at Parsley Hay, which is the closest access point to the park.

Also within reach

  • Dovedale — The stepping stones and the gorge, the most famous walk in the Peak.
  • Arbor Low — A neolithic stone circle in a field, free and usually deserted.
  • Buxton — Spa town with the Pavilion Gardens, the Opera House and Poole's Cavern.
