A local day out: Withernsea Lighthouse
A 127-foot lighthouse standing not on a cliff but in the middle of a residential street, several hundred yards inland, which is one of the odder sights on the English coast. You can climb the 144 steps for a view along the whole Holderness shore, and the base houses a small museum including a display on the actress Kay Kendall, who was born in the town. Ten minutes from the park.
